The Virtual Museum of the History of the Telescope           Background: The Virtual Museum, sponsored by the Antique Telescope Society in association with researcher Dr. Albert Van Helden and Rice University will be a virtual museum of the history of the telescope. It will be rich in images and information about historical instruments as they apply to the science of astronomy. The site will be a visual feast and feature an archival database of antique instruments,   research resources, restoration techniques and educational materials.   Primary Goals: Provide an interesting and valuable resource for scholars, educators and the general public interested in the history of the telescope. Through the site's association with The Antique Telescope Society, promote the society and increase its membership. Promote interest in historical astronomical instruments and the science of astronomy.
